1.1 Welcome to UNISON. The UNISON website and the services provided through it (collectively referred to as “UNISON”, “Platform”, or “Services”) are operated as an initiative of SWIS Foundation. The Platform is currently available through the website located at theunison.org.
1.2 UNISON may make its services available through various platforms, including websites, applications, digital tools, communication channels, and other interfaces, collectively referred to as the “Platform”.
1.3 For the purposes of these Terms, “UNISON Member” or “Member” means any registered individual, student, educator, organisation, institution, project owner, volunteer, donor, supporter, mentor, or other person using the Platform. “Project Owner” means an individual, group, organisation, institution, or other eligible entity that creates, submits, manages, or conducts a project or initiative through UNISON. “Project” means any social-impact initiative, educational activity, volunteering opportunity, fundraising initiative, campaign, program, or other cause presented through the Platform. “Supporter” means any person who engages with, shares, follows, promotes, volunteers for, or otherwise supports a Project without necessarily making a financial contribution. “Contributor” means any person who provides funds, resources, services, or other forms of support towards a Project. “User” means any visitor, Member, or person accessing or using the Platform.
1.4 UNISON is intended to provide a platform for discovering, presenting, supporting, and participating in social-impact initiatives. Depending on the relevant service, the Platform may facilitate connections between students, individuals, educators, organisations, institutions, volunteers, donors, mentors, and Project Owners. Certain features may include project discovery, volunteering, internships, mentorship, community engagement, project updates, resource mobilisation, and crowdfunding or contribution-related services where made available.
1.5 These Terms and Conditions, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional guidelines, participation rules, project-specific terms, contribution terms, or other policies published by UNISON, form the agreement governing your use of the Platform. Certain provisions may apply differently depending on whether you are a visitor, student, Project Owner, Contributor, Supporter, volunteer, organisation, or another type of User.
1.6 By accessing, registering with, or using UNISON, you confirm that you accept these Terms and agree to comply with them. If you are using the Platform on behalf of an organisation, institution, school, trust, company, or other entity, you confirm that you have the authority to act on its behalf and that references to “you” or “your” shall include that entity where applicable. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access, use, or contribute content to the Platform.
2.1 Anyone may access publicly available portions of the UNISON website. However, certain features, including creating projects, applying for opportunities, participating in programs, contributing to initiatives, accessing member-only services, or interacting through specific community features, may require registration or additional verification.
2.2 When creating an account, you agree to provide information that is accurate, complete, current, and not misleading. You are responsible for updating your information whenever necessary to ensure that your account remains accurate.
2.3 UNISON reserves the right to reject, suspend, restrict, remove, or terminate any account, Project, application, submission, contribution, or access to any part of the Platform where we reasonably believe that the User has violated these Terms, provided false or misleading information, engaged in misuse, created a security or legal risk, or acted in a manner inconsistent with the purpose or integrity of the Platform.
2.4 UNISON may modify, suspend, discontinue, or restrict any feature, service, Project, or portion of the Platform at any time, with or without prior notice, where reasonably necessary for operational, legal, technical, safety, or administrative reasons.
3.1 We take the privacy of our Users seriously. Please refer to the UNISON Privacy Policy for information regarding the collection, use, storage, sharing, and protection of personal information.
3.2 Like many online services, UNISON may use cookies and similar technologies to maintain sessions, remember preferences, improve functionality, analyse usage, and support security. By using the Platform, you acknowledge the use of such technologies as described in the Privacy Policy. You may manage or disable cookies through your browser settings, although certain features may become unavailable or function differently.
4.1 You must ensure that all information provided during registration or participation is true, accurate, current, and complete. You must not impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any individual, organisation, school, institution, or entity.
4.2 Your account is intended for your own use unless UNISON expressly permits an institutional, organisational, or authorised representative account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities conducted through your account.
4.3 You must immediately notify UNISON if you become aware of unauthorised access, misuse of your account, loss of credentials, or any suspected security breach. UNISON may assist with account recovery or credential resetting, but you remain responsible for taking reasonable steps to protect your account.
4.4 If UNISON reasonably believes that you have breached these Terms, we may suspend or terminate your registration, access, submissions, or participation in any part of the Platform.
4.5 You may request deletion of your account by contacting UNISON. Certain information may be retained where required by law, necessary for legitimate organisational records, required for ongoing transactions or disputes, or necessary to prevent fraud or misuse.
UNISON provides a technology-enabled platform intended to help individuals, students, educators, organisations, institutions, and communities discover, present, support, and participate in social-impact initiatives. Depending on the specific service, UNISON may facilitate communication, project visibility, volunteering, internships, mentorship, resource mobilisation, or contributions between Users. Unless expressly stated otherwise in a specific written agreement, UNISON is not necessarily the owner, executor, beneficiary, guarantor, or direct operator of every Project listed or accessed through the Platform.
Project Owners are responsible for ensuring that all information submitted to UNISON is accurate, lawful, current, and not misleading. Project descriptions, objectives, budgets, timelines, impact claims, images, videos, documents, updates, and other materials must fairly represent the Project and must not contain fraudulent, deceptive, defamatory, infringing, or unlawful content.
UNISON may review, moderate, verify, request clarification regarding, approve, reject, suspend, or remove Projects at its discretion. However, unless expressly stated otherwise, such review does not constitute a guarantee, certification, endorsement, audit, or independent verification of every statement made by a Project Owner.
Project Owners agree to use any funds, resources, or support received through the Platform solely for the purposes represented in the relevant Project, unless otherwise disclosed and agreed to by the relevant Contributors. Project Owners must fulfil commitments made in connection with their Projects, provide reasonable updates where applicable, respond honestly to relevant queries, comply with applicable laws, and refrain from misusing information obtained through the Platform.
Project Owners must not use UNISON to promote unlawful activities, fraudulent schemes, misleading claims, prohibited transactions, political manipulation, harassment, discrimination, or activities that violate the rights or safety of others.
Users may support Projects through financial contributions, volunteering, sharing, mentorship, resources, skills, services, or other forms of participation where such features are available. A contribution or expression of support does not automatically create ownership, control, equity, partnership, employment, agency, or intellectual-property rights in the relevant Project unless expressly agreed in writing.
Where financial contributions are facilitated through a third-party payment gateway or external service, the terms and policies of that payment provider may also apply. UNISON may not directly hold, process, or control payment credentials or funds unless expressly stated for a specific service.
Where applicable, payments may be processed through authorised third-party payment service providers. Users acknowledge that payment processing may be subject to additional terms, verification requirements, transaction limits, gateway charges, banking charges, currency conversion charges, or regulatory requirements.
Any refund, cancellation, reversal, or dispute relating to a contribution shall be governed by the specific terms disclosed for the relevant Project, payment method, service, or transaction. Unless expressly stated otherwise, UNISON does not guarantee that every contribution will be refundable.
UNISON does not guarantee that a Project will achieve its stated objectives, receive a particular amount of support, complete within a specified timeline, deliver a particular outcome, or fulfil every representation made by its Project Owner. Users should exercise their own judgement and conduct any due diligence they consider appropriate before contributing, participating, or relying on information presented through the Platform.
Where UNISON facilitates volunteering, internships, mentorships, student opportunities, or similar engagements, participation may be subject to separate eligibility criteria, selection processes, schedules, codes of conduct, consent requirements, institutional approvals, and program-specific terms. UNISON does not guarantee selection, employment, academic credit, admission, compensation, or any particular outcome unless expressly confirmed in writing.
Users participating in such opportunities agree to behave professionally, respect the confidentiality and safety of others, follow applicable institutional and program rules, and provide accurate information during the application and participation process.
Any text, images, photographs, videos, audio, documents, project descriptions, comments, messages, updates, or other material submitted, uploaded, published, or shared by Users through UNISON may be referred to as “User-Generated Content” or “UGC”.
By submitting UGC to UNISON, you represent that you own the content or possess all necessary rights, permissions, licences, and consents required to submit and use it through the Platform. You must not upload content that infringes copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, contractual, or other rights of any third party.
Where photographs or videos identify individuals, you are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions for their use and publication. In the case of children or minors, appropriate consent from a parent, guardian, school, or authorised institution should be obtained wherever required.
By submitting UGC, you grant UNISON a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, display, publish, distribute, format, adapt, and communicate that content for the purposes of operating, promoting, documenting, improving, and communicating about UNISON and its initiatives, subject to the Privacy Policy and applicable law. You retain ownership of your original content unless otherwise agreed.
Users agree that all information submitted through UNISON shall be accurate, lawful, respectful, and not misleading. Users must not upload or publish content that is defamatory, abusive, threatening, harassing, obscene, discriminatory, fraudulent, invasive of privacy, or otherwise unlawful or harmful.
Users must not misuse contact information obtained through the Platform, harass other Users, send unsolicited spam, impersonate others, distribute malware, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with Platform operations, collect personal information without permission, or use the Platform for unlawful or unauthorised commercial solicitation.
UNISON may, but is not obligated to, monitor content and interactions on the Platform. We reserve the right to investigate complaints, review suspected violations, restrict visibility, edit, suspend, remove, or disable access to content, Projects, accounts, or community features where we believe such action is reasonably necessary.
We may also cooperate with lawful authorities or relevant institutions where required to address suspected fraud, abuse, threats, illegal activity, safeguarding concerns, or violations of applicable law.
UNISON is not necessarily a party to disputes between Project Owners, Contributors, volunteers, students, organisations, mentors, or other Users. Unless expressly agreed otherwise, Users are responsible for resolving arrangements, commitments, transactions, communications, and disputes directly between themselves.
UNISON may, where appropriate, assist with communication, review complaints, provide relevant information, or cooperate with lawful investigations, but does not guarantee the conduct, performance, reliability, or fulfilment of any User or Project.
All rights, title, and interest in the UNISON website, branding, logos, names, designs, software, databases, text, graphics, interfaces, and other original Platform content belong to UNISON, SWIS Foundation, or their respective licensors, unless otherwise stated.
Users may access and use the Platform for lawful, personal, educational, non-commercial, or expressly authorised purposes. No rights are granted to copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, sell, license, reverse engineer, scrape, republish, or commercially exploit Platform content without prior written permission.
The UNISON name, logo, branding, and associated marks may not be used without prior written authorisation in a manner that suggests endorsement, partnership, affiliation, sponsorship, or approval where none exists.
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites, payment gateways, educational resources, partner platforms, or external services. UNISON does not necessarily control or endorse such third-party websites and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, privacy practices, or terms. Users access third-party services at their own risk and should review the applicable terms and privacy policies.
UNISON does not guarantee that the Platform or its services will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, timely, accurate, complete, or error-free. Access may occasionally be affected by maintenance, technical issues, connectivity problems, third-party services, cybersecurity incidents, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Information made available through UNISON is provided for general informational, educational, community, and participation-related purposes. UNISON does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, reliability, quality, legality, safety, or suitability of all information submitted by Users or third parties.
Users are responsible for independently evaluating information before relying on it or making decisions based upon it.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, UNISON, SWIS Foundation, and their respective representatives, employees, volunteers, officers, partners, service providers, and licensors shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive losses arising from or relating to the use of the Platform, User-generated content, Project performance, third-party services, payment processing, loss of data, interruption of service, or interactions between Users.
Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or limit liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless UNISON, SWIS Foundation, and their respective representatives, employees, officers, volunteers, partners, and service providers from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses, including reasonable legal expenses, arising from your breach of these Terms, misuse of the Platform, violation of any law or third-party rights, or content submitted by you.
UNISON respects intellectual-property rights. If you believe that content available through the Platform infringes your copyright or other intellectual-property rights, you may contact us at getintouch@theunison.org with relevant details, including identification of the protected work, the allegedly infringing material, and evidence of your rights.
For general complaints, concerns, safeguarding issues, suspected misuse, or requests for further information regarding UNISON, please contact getintouch@theunison.org. We may review the matter and respond or take appropriate action as reasonably practicable.
By using UNISON, you agree that communications with us may primarily take place electronically through email, website notices, platform notifications, or other digital means. You acknowledge that electronic communications satisfy legal requirements for written communication where permitted by applicable law.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect to the extent permitted by law.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional policies or agreements expressly incorporated by reference, constitute the entire agreement between you and UNISON concerning your use of the Platform, unless a separate written agreement applies.
These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of India. Subject to applicable law, disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of the Platform shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in [Insert applicable city/state in India].
UNISON may update, amend, or modify these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the Platform, services, legal requirements, or operational practices. Updated Terms will be published on the website with a revised “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the Platform after publication of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, subject to applicable law.
